Surgical oncology is, apart from chemotherapy and radiation therapy, one of the three basic medical services in oncology. It involves the surgical removal of neoplastic tumour or another tissue fragment that is under siege by neoplastic cells.
NU-MED Group centers are medical facilities that reach out to patients offering comprehensive treatment. Surgical oncology procedures are performed in collaboration with partnering hospitals. The course of treatment is settled by a team of physicians forming medical case conferences. The members of medical case conferences are recruited from physicians specialized in surgical oncology, among other disciplines. The team of physicians decide what treatment method to select based on results analysis. If a surgical procedure is necessary, the patient often undergoes a combined treatment. It usually consists in the combination of methods, e.g., chemotherapy and surgical oncology, with the option to also introduce radiation therapy.
